Ayurveda Foundations Training at Shine

A comprehensive introduction to Ayurvedic lifestyle wisdom, daily rhythms, and foundational principles—designed for thoughtful integration into modern life and wellness practices. Explore foundational Ayurvedic education for personal enrichment and integration into wellness practices.

Program Overview (What This Is — and Isn’t)

The Ayurveda Foundations Training is an educational, non-clinical program offering a structured introduction to classical Ayurvedic principles with a strong emphasis on lifestyle, energetics, daily routines, and self-awareness.

This training is designed to support personal understanding, professional enrichment, and integrative wellness education. It does not train participants to diagnose, treat, or prescribe for medical conditions. Instead, it focuses on cultivating a grounded understanding of Ayurvedic theory and its application in everyday life and integrate with other wellness practices.

This program is designed for:

  • Wellness professionals seeking foundational Ayurvedic literacy

  • Yoga teachers, bodyworkers, and holistic practitioners

  • Individuals interested in deepening their personal relationship with Ayurvedic living

  • Anyone seeking a structured, respectful introduction to Ayurveda

Choose Your Path: Ayurveda Foundations at SHINE

Our SHINE Ayurveda Foundations Training is designed to meet you exactly where you are — whether you’re seeking targeted education or a fully immersive, professional-level experience.

We offer two pathways so you can engage with this ancient wisdom in a way that aligns with your goals, schedule, and level of commitment.

Path One: Ayurveda Foundations Certification (45 Hours)

For those seeking full immersion, integration, and professional recognition

This path is designed for students who want the complete Ayurvedic foundation — taught sequentially, embodied through practice, and integrated into daily life or existing wellness work.

What’s Included:

  • All 8 core modules (45 total hours, including non-contact integration time)

  • Modules taught in intentional sequence for deeper understanding

  • A Certificate in Foundations of Ayurveda (45 Hours) upon completion

  • Completion of a final integration assignment (details provided during the training)

  • Cohort-based learning experience with continuity and depth

Best value and most complete experience

Path Two: Individual Ayurveda Foundations Modules

Professional Education | Stand-Alone Learning

Each module in the Ayurveda Foundations Training is also offered as a stand-alone educational experience.

This option is ideal if you:

  • Want to explore specific topics

  • Are curious about Ayurveda without committing to the full program

Enrollment Options:

  • Individual Module: $279
    (4.5 hours per module)

  • Day Bundle (2 Modules in One Day): $459
(Includes two sequential modules taught in one full day)

Important Note:

  • Individual modules may be taken in any order

  • A certificate is not issued unless all 8 modules are completed

  • Students who later decide to complete all modules may upgrade into the certification path at the price of $459 per bundled day

Which Path Is Right for You?

Choose the Certification Path if you:

  • Want a cohesive, start-to-finish Ayurvedic foundation

  • Value integration, reflection, and mentorship

  • Desire a formal certificate and private session with Lorraine

  • Plan to weave Ayurveda into your personal or professional life

Choose Individual Modules if you:

  • Prefer à la carte learning

  • Want to focus on specific areas like aromatherapy, herbs, or chakras

  • Are exploring Ayurveda solely for yourself and do not plan on using the information in your professional life.

Both paths honor flexibility.
Only one offers full integration, certification, and completion recognition.

Why Most Students Choose the Certification

While individual modules are available, many students choose the full certification pathway for the structure, continuity, and depth it provides.

The certification offers:

  • Sequential learning that builds concepts gradually and coherently, supporting true understanding rather than isolated knowledge

  • An integration assignment that helps translate theory into lived experience and practical application

  • A private session with Lorraine to personalize learning, clarify questions, and support meaningful integration

  • A cohort-based experience that encourages reflection, shared inquiry, and learning in community

  • The best overall value for those intending to complete the full 45-hour training

This pathway is ideal for students who value depth, continuity, and guided integration over piecemeal learning.

Learning Philosophy & Investment Approach

Why Is Each Module $279?

Each Ayurveda Foundations module is a 4.5-hour professional education experience, intentionally designed to offer both knowledge and integration.

Rather than brief workshops or surface-level overviews, our modules provide:

  • Clear Ayurvedic frameworks you can understand and apply

  • Experiential learning that connects theory to real life

  • Guided reflection for personal insight

  • Thoughtfully designed take-home materials

  • Integration prompts that extend learning beyond the classroom

Students consistently leave with:

  • Greater clarity about their body and patterns

  • Practical tools they can use immediately

  • A deeper understanding of how Ayurveda applies to modern life

Our pricing reflects the depth, structure, and quality of the experience — not just the hours spent together.

For those attending a full day, we also offer day bundles at a reduced rate, as modules are intentionally designed to pair together for an even richer learning experience.

Our Learning Philosophy

At SHINE, we believe meaningful education happens in intentional containers.

This training is designed for adult learners who are ready to engage with depth, presence, and care — not passively consume information.

When learning is valued, it’s met with greater focus, participation, and integration. That shared commitment creates a more powerful experience for both students and teachers.

We also believe that honoring your investment in learning supports clarity, confidence, and the ability to later stand in your own value — personally and professionally.

This is education meant to be lived, not just learned.

Lorraine Williams

Thai Yoga Massage Teacher + Practitioner

Lorraine Williams is an Ayurvedic Consultant whose work is shaped by lived practice, cross-cultural study, and a deep respect for traditional healing systems as they are meant to be lived—not extracted or oversimplified.

Her studies in Ayurveda span both India and Thailand, including training at the Yogamu Institute in Rishikesh, India, and continued practice and consultation in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Lorraine approaches Ayurveda not as a set of rigid rules, but as a living system—one that honors daily rhythm, personal constitution, and the intelligence of the body over time.

Ayurveda entered Lorraine’s life through both formal study and lived experience, shaped by ongoing inquiry and integration. Her teaching is practical and accessible, emphasizing foundational understanding and lifestyle awareness rather than diagnosis or prescription. She teaches Ayurveda because she has seen how small, informed shifts in daily living create lasting change, guiding students to build a real relationship with the teachings—not just gather information.

Ayurveda – FAQs

Q: Do I need prior experience in Ayurveda to enroll?

A: No prior experience is required. This training is designed to support beginners as well as yoga teachers, coaches, and wellness practitioners who are new to Ayurveda or seeking a strong foundational understanding.

Q: Is this a professional certification to practice Ayurveda?

A: This is a foundational, educational certification, not a clinical or medical credential. Graduates receive a Certificate in Foundations of Ayurveda (45 Hours) and are equipped to share Ayurvedic principles through education, self-care guidance, and wellness-based practices — not medical diagnosis or treatment.

Q: What is the scope of practice after completing this training?

A: Graduates may integrate Ayurvedic lifestyle concepts, dosha awareness, daily routines, aromatherapy, and herbal energetics into personal practice or existing wellness work.
This program does not authorize graduates to diagnose, treat, prescribe for, or manage medical conditions or diseases.

Q: Can I call myself an Ayurvedic Practitioner after completing this program?

A: No. Upon completion, you may use the title “SHINE Ayurveda Foundations Graduate.”
Titles such as Ayurvedic Health Counselor or Ayurvedic Practitioner require completion of accredited professional programs that meet National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA) standards.

Q: How does this training compare to professional Ayurvedic certification programs?

A: SHINE’s Ayurveda Foundations Training is a 45-hour foundational education program designed for lifestyle learning, personal growth, and integration into wellness-based practices.

Professional Ayurvedic credentials, such as:

  • Ayurvedic Health Counselor (600 hours)

  • Ayurvedic Practitioner (1,500 hours)

are significantly longer, more intensive, and designed for clinical or semi-clinical practice. These programs typically require multi-year study and range in cost from approximately $7,000–$10,000 or more, depending on the institution.

Our program is intentionally designed as a foundations-level offering, not a substitute for professional designation.

Q: Why would someone choose a 45-hour foundations training instead of a 600+ hour program?

A: Many students want a deep, practical introduction to Ayurveda without pursuing clinical practice. This training is ideal for those who:

  • Want to integrate Ayurveda into existing wellness or healing work

  • Are seeking personal transformation and self-awareness

  • Want ethical, non-clinical education without the time or financial commitment of professional programs

  • Prefer clarity and integration over clinical depth

This training offers depth without overwhelm.

Q: Do I need to complete all modules to receive the certificate?

A: Yes. The Certificate in Foundations of Ayurveda (45 Hours) is awarded only after completion of all eight modules, a final integration assignment, and a private session with Lorraine Williams.

Q: Can I take individual modules without committing to the full certification?

A: Yes. Each module is offered as a stand-alone professional education experience and may be taken individually. However, students who take individual modules will not receive a certificate unless all eight modules are completed.

Q: Can I upgrade to the full certification later if I start with individual modules?

A: Yes. Students who begin with individual modules may later upgrade into the certification path, provided all modules and certification requirements are completed.

Q: How long is each module?

A: Each module is 4.5 hours. Modules are typically taught in pairs over a full day, with an extended lunch break between sessions.

Q: What is included in the 45 training hours?

A: The 45 hours include:

  • Live module instruction

  • Non-contact integration time

  • Completion of a final integration assignment

  • One private integration session with Lorraine Williams

Q: Why is each module priced at $279?

A: Each module is designed as a complete professional education experience, combining foundational knowledge, experiential learning, guided reflection, and practical take-home materials. Our pricing reflects the depth, structure, and quality of the learning environment — not just the hours spent together.

Q: Are payment plans available?

A: Yes. Payment plans are available for students enrolling in the full Foundations Certification.

Q: I’m already a coach, healer, or wellness practitioner. Is this training a good complement to my work?

A: Yes. This training is intentionally designed to complement existing wellness, coaching, and healing practices.

Ayurveda offers:

  • A framework for understanding constitution and patterns

  • Insight into lifestyle balance and daily rhythm

  • Tools for self-care, energetics, and prevention

  • Language that deepens intuition without replacing your primary modality

Many practitioners use Ayurveda to enhance how they listen, observe, and support clients — while staying fully within their professional scope.

Q: How does this training benefit yoga teachers?

A: Ayurveda and yoga are sister sciences. For yoga teachers, this training can:

  • Deepen understanding of students’ constitutions and needs

  • Inform sequencing, pacing, and seasonal teaching

  • Support lifestyle education alongside asana and pranayama

  • Offer language for rest, nourishment, and balance beyond the mat

This training supports yoga teachers in teaching holistically, not just physically.

Q: Can I integrate this training into my existing offerings without changing my professional title?

A: Yes. Graduates are encouraged to integrate Ayurvedic principles ethically and transparently, using language such as:

  • “Ayurvedic-informed”

  • “Lifestyle-based Ayurvedic principles”

  • “Wellness-focused Ayurvedic education”

You do not need to change your professional title to benefit from this training.

Q: Will I learn how to recommend herbs or essential oils to clients?

A: You will learn educational frameworks and energetic principles for herbs and aromatics. Any product recommendations must comply with U.S. FDA and FTC regulations, and no disease-treatment claims may be made. This program does not authorize clinical herbal care.

Q: Do I need professional liability insurance after completing the training?

A: SHINE strongly recommends professional liability insurance appropriate to your work. SHINE’s insurance does not cover graduates’ individual services.

Q: What if I already have a medical condition?

A: This training is educational only and not a substitute for medical care. Students and graduates should always refer themselves or clients to licensed healthcare providers for medical conditions.

Q: Is this training appropriate if I only want it for myself?

A: Yes. Many students enroll primarily for personal enrichment, self-awareness, and lifestyle alignment. Professional integration is optional, not required.

Q: What kind of student thrives in this program?

A: This training is best suited for adult learners who value depth, reflection, and meaningful integration. It’s designed for those who want to engage thoughtfully with the material and apply it in real life.
