  • Common Pathologies
  • Reflex Zones
  • Hands on Practice and Exam

What Will I Be Able to Do After Level One?

After completing the training, students will be able to perform a foundational foot reflexology sequence intended for relaxation and general wellness.

You may use these skills personally or incorporate them into an existing complementary wellness practice, when appropriate and within the scope of your education, professional credentials, and applicable laws.

Level One is an introductory training. It does not prepare students to offer reflexology as a comprehensive, standalone professional service.

Want to Go Deeper?

For students who feel called to continue beyond the foundations, Reflexology Practitioner Training: Level Two is the natural next step.

Level Two is designed for graduates of Foundations of Reflexology who want to deepen their understanding, expand their techniques, and learn how to structure a more complete reflexology session. Students who complete both Level One and Level Two may refer to themselves as a Reflexology Practitioner or Certified Reflexology Practitioner (SHINE), reflecting completion of SHINE’s practitioner-level training pathway. Choose the Duo option to complete both levels and save.

The advanced training builds upon foot reflexology and introduces:

  • Reflex points associated with the body’s organ systems
  • Resting and holding points
  • Hand reflexology
  • An expanded professional foot sequence
  • Session structure, pacing, and flow
  • Additional hands-on practice

If Level One introduces you to the language of reflexology, Level Two helps you begin speaking it with greater confidence, intention, and fluency.

Students who complete both Level One and Level Two will receive SHINE’s Reflexology Practitioner Certificate, representing completion of our practitioner-level training pathway.

Professional Practice, Ohio Law, and National Certification

Reflexology is a specialized practice involving pressure applied to designated reflex points, most commonly on the feet and hands.

Ohio does not currently issue a separate state license specifically for reflexology. However, reflexology may fall within Ohio’s massage therapy laws when a service involves the manipulation of soft tissue for a therapeutic purpose.

How a service is performed, described, marketed, and incorporated into an existing practice may affect which laws or professional requirements apply. Local requirements may also vary.

This training:

  • Does not grant an Ohio massage therapy license
  • Does not provide legal authorization to work outside the scope permitted by state or local law
  • Does not replace professional, legal, or regulatory guidance
  • Does not qualify graduates for national board certification

Students are responsible for understanding the laws, regulations, professional standards, insurance requirements, and scope-of-practice considerations that apply to their individual circumstances.

Professional boundaries, ethical practice, client communication, and considerations for offering reflexology in Ohio will be discussed during class.

National certification through the American Reflexology Certification Board is currently voluntary. At the time of this writing, eligibility for the ARCB foot reflexology examination requires completion of a 200-hour reflexology education program, including a required amount of in-person, hands-on practical instruction.

SHINE’s Level One and Level Two trainings offer focused education through our own reflexology pathway but do not, individually or together, fulfill the complete educational requirements for ARCB national certification.

Laws, regulations, and certification standards may change. Students who intend to practice professionally are encouraged to verify the current requirements that apply to their location and intended services.
