Sound Healing Certification – FAQs
Q: Do I need any prerequisites to become a certified sound healer?
A: No prerequisites are required. All you need is an interest or passion for sound healing. Our certification programs are designed to support beginners as well as those already working in wellness or healing fields.
Q: What does the Sound Therapy Certification include?
A: The Sound Therapy Certification includes an overview of sound therapy and the science behind sound healing, exposure to a variety of sound instruments, and a primary focus on crystal singing bowls. You’ll learn how to facilitate both private and group sound baths and gain hands-on practice to build confidence and skill.
Q: Does the Sound Therapy Certification include tuning forks?
A: Tuning forks are briefly introduced in the Sound Therapy Certification; however, they are a powerful modality of their own and are offered through a separate, in-depth training program.
Q: What tuning fork trainings do you offer?
A: We offer two levels of Tuning Fork Certification.
Tuning Forks Level One provides a deep dive into the modality and teaches the 8-step Biofield Tuning process for use with yourself and others. Tuning Forks Level Two builds on this foundation with advanced techniques, expanded applications, and extensive hands-on practice.
Q: Do I need both tuning fork levels?
A: If you plan to work with clients or groups, we strongly recommend completing both Level One and Level Two to ensure confidence, competency, and ethical application.
Q: Can I bundle the Sound Therapy and Tuning Fork certifications?
A: Yes. Most students and practitioners choose to bundle the Sound Therapy Certification with both Tuning Fork levels. Bundling offers significant savings—often hundreds of dollars—and provides a comprehensive sound healing skill set.
Q: Will you tell us what instruments to buy?
A: Yes. During each training, we provide clear guidance and trusted resources for purchasing instruments such as crystal singing bowls, tuning forks, and other sound healing tools.
Q: Should I purchase tuning forks before the training?
A: We recommend waiting to purchase tuning forks until after the training, as we suggest a specific set aligned with what you’ll learn in class.
Q: Is this certification suitable if I only want to use sound healing for myself?
A: Absolutely. Many students take the trainings for personal healing, while others go on to work with clients or groups. The certifications support both paths.
Q: Will these certifications be recognized by the state or other organizations?
A: There is currently no state licensure or governing body for sound therapy. That said, Shine has been providing best-in-class training since 2011 and is a well-established, recognized education center. Our classes offer CE credits and are professionally vetted, ensuring a high-quality learning experience.
Q: Is the tuning fork certificate the same as going through Eileen McKusick’s program?
A: Our tuning fork training is based on the work of Eileen McKusick, and our facilitator is a certified practitioner trained directly under Eileen. However, our program is not the same. We focus on making tuning forks more accessible and affordable. For example, Eileen’s Level One training is a 6-week program costing thousands of dollars, while our Level One is 5 hours and a few hundred dollars. We also offer a more in-depth option with additional personal mentorship from our facilitator for those seeking support beyond Level One and Two.
Q: Who teaches these trainings?
A: Our instructor, Auburn Juliano-Herchek, is a certified Biofield Tuning practitioner with over three years of dedicated study under Eileen McKusick, a pioneer in the field. Auburn is also an experienced practitioner and teacher of Sound Therapy, combining her expertise to help others achieve balance and harmony through sound healing.
Q: What can I call myself after completing the Tuning Forks Duo?
A: After completing both Tuning Forks certifications (level one and level two), you may refer to yourself as a Sound Balancing with Tuning Forks Practitioner or simply Tuning Forks Practitioner. If you only complete level one, this does not qualify.
Q: After completing the Sound Therapy Certification, am I considered a Sound Therapy Practitioner?
A: Completing the Sound Therapy Certification means you receive a certificate of completion and are taught how to confidently facilitate private and group sound sessions. This training provides a strong foundation in sound healing and practical facilitation skills.
However, at Shine, being recognized as a Sound Therapy Practitioner represents a higher level of training, integration, and mentorship. The Sound Therapy Certification is one important piece of that journey, but additional practice, hands-on experience, and guided mentorship are required to be considered a Sound Therapy Practitioner through Shine.
For those seeking comprehensive training and practitioner-level recognition, we offer the Sound Therapy Practitioner Pathway, which includes:

Q: What professional designation or title can I use after completing each sound certification?

-

-
