You never leave the mat the same way you found it...

Yoga might not be what you think it is
When I first found yoga, I didn’t get it.
At all.
I lived with anxiety and panic attacks.
My mind was always going.
Type A.
Intense.
Constant overthinking.
Constant stimulation.
And for 60 minutes, yoga asked me to put all of it down.
No distractions.
No scrolling.
No numbing.
No performing.
No matter how chaotic my day feels, yoga does something to me that very few things can.
It quiets the noise.
Softens my nervous system.
Slows the momentum in my mind.
And I think that’s why yoga changes people.
Not because they become more flexible. stronger.
Because for one brief moment, they stop running on autopilot.
They breathe.
They soften.
They become present again.
Most people walk through their entire day disconnected from their body, their emotions, and themselves without even realizing it.
Yoga interrupts that.
And honestly?
I think everything we do at SHINE is yoga.
The chanting.
The drums.
The somatic work.
The healing.
The stillness.
The breath.
Yoga was never meant to be reduced to a 60-minute workout filled with warriors and push-ups.
At its core, yoga is anything that reconnects you back to yourself. your breath. this moment.
And honestly?
It changed not just my life. but me.
