The Breakthrough. The Reset. The Momentum.

Can one experience really change everything?

I've just returned from Dr. Joe Dispenza's 7-Day Retreat, where I spent more than 35 hours meditating, participating in coherence healing, and exploring what happens when we step outside our familiar ways of thinking, feeling, and being.

Seven days immersed in an entirely different environment. No phone. No outside distractions. No business to run. Just an opportunity to explore human potential in ways that we typically don't make room for in our everyday lives.

And somewhere in all of that, I kept coming back to a question.

Can one experience really change everything?

I believe it can.

But I also believe there's another piece to this conversation that we don't talk about nearly enough.

And it has everything to do with what happens when the experience is over.

1. THE RESET: Sometimes You Need to Step Away From Everything

Think about the life you live every day.

You wake up in the same bed. Reach for the same phone. Have many of the same conversations. Drive the same roads. Respond to the same responsibilities.

And without even realizing it, you can find yourself thinking the same thoughts, feeling the same emotions, and repeating the same patterns.

Day after day.

Now imagine removing yourself from nearly all of that.

Not for an hour. Not for an afternoon.

For DAYS.

You temporarily step outside the environment that constantly reminds you of who you've been, and you give yourself the space to explore who you might become.

That's part of what drew me to Dr. Joe's retreat.

I didn't go because I needed a vacation. Trust me, there are much easier ways to spend seven days away from home than meditating for 35+ hours. 😂

I went because I wanted to experience what happens when you make your inner world the priority for an extended period of time.

Sometimes that kind of immersion is exactly what creates the reset we've been looking for.

But here's the interesting thing.

You don't necessarily need seven days to experience a profound shift.

Sometimes it happens in a single afternoon.

2. THE BREAKTHROUGH: Sometimes One Experience Opens a Door

Not long ago, a woman traveled from out of state to attend a training at SHINE.

She had been following us for nearly two years.

TWO YEARS!

She'd been watching what we were doing, reading about our experiences, and considering whether to make the trip.

And then she finally walked through the doors of the Light House (that's what we affectionately call Shine’s physical building).

Afterward, she shared something that stayed with me. She had been so swept up in the energy of the room that she wasn't even sure how much of the training information she'd retained.

Now, as someone who owns an education center, I probably shouldn't be celebrating someone questioning how much information they absorbed. 😂

But I knew exactly what she meant.

Because something happens when you step into an environment where people are intentionally gathering to learn, grow, heal, and support one another.

And I believe the energy of that environment matters.

The most dominant energy holds the space.

This is something I teach, something I believe deeply, and something I've witnessed over and over again.

For seven years, people have been walking into the Light House to meditate, practice yoga, explore energy work, release emotions, laugh, cry, learn, connect, and sometimes discover parts of themselves they didn't even know were there.

I believe those experiences contribute to the energy of the space itself.

And when someone walks through our doors for the first time, they're not necessarily starting from zero.

They're stepping into an environment where that energy is already present.

There's also something we call co-regulation, which describes how our nervous systems can influence one another through connection and interaction.

Think about how differently you feel around someone who's constantly anxious and reactive compared with someone who feels grounded, calm, and present.

Or imagine walking into one of our Sacred Beats Drum Circles.

You might arrive carrying the stress of your entire week. But then the drums begin. You're surrounded by people sharing a rhythm. You're connecting, listening, moving, and participating in something bigger than your individual experience.

And suddenly you notice something.

You feel different.

Maybe calmer. Maybe lighter. Maybe more connected.

And you think, "Wait a minute. Why don't I feel like this all the time?"

THAT QUESTION.

That's where things get interesting.

Because sometimes one experience doesn't just make you feel better.

It introduces you to a version of yourself you didn't realize was available.

I've seen it happen in our energy trainings, too.

Someone arrives curious about energy healing, learns something that challenges their understanding of the world, and leaves looking at everything a little differently.

The people around them haven't changed.

Their job hasn't changed.

Their circumstances may be exactly the same.

But something inside them has shifted.

And when your perspective changes, the possibilities you see can change with it.

That's a breakthrough.

And I absolutely believe one breakthrough can change the direction of someone's life.

But there's a question I think we need to ask next.

What happens on Monday?

3. THE MOMENTUM: What Happens After the Breakthrough?

Would you lift weights once a month and expect to build muscle?

Would you eat one healthy meal every 30 days and expect it to completely transform your physical health?

Of course not.

We understand that building physical strength requires repetition.

And yet, when it comes to our nervous systems, emotional well-being, and personal transformation, we sometimes approach things very differently.

We attend an incredible workshop.

We feel amazing.

We leave inspired, lighter, more connected, maybe even profoundly changed.

And then?

We return to the same environment, the same habits, the same conversations, and the same patterns we've been practicing for years.

Thirty days later, we're wondering where that incredible feeling went. So we are back again...

Here's what I want you to consider.

The experience wasn't the problem. And the breakthrough wasn't imaginary.

But what if that experience was an invitation to begin practicing something differently?

Think about how much repetition went into creating the patterns you currently live by.

Some of them have been reinforced for decades.

So why would we expect one afternoon of doing something different to automatically replace years of practicing something familiar?

Now, don't misunderstand me.

I believe breakthroughs are powerful. I've witnessed people have extraordinary experiences in a single session, workshop, or training. In fact, that's exactly what happened to me 15 years ago. One breakthrough changed the direction of my life, and I'm still following where it leads today.

And sometimes that one moment really does change everything.

But I also believe we have an opportunity to build on those experiences rather than waiting for the next one to come along.

A breakthrough can open the door. Consistency helps us explore what's on the other side.

And this is where momentum comes in.

You Don't Have to Live at SHINE.

I mean, I love you guys, but we do eventually have to lock the doors and go home. 😂

Creating momentum doesn't mean you need to attend a workshop every day or spend every spare hour at SHINE.

Instead, it means becoming intentional about what you're repeatedly exposing yourself to.

The conversations you're having.

The environments you're spending time in.

The thoughts you're practicing.

The way you're breathing.

The people you're surrounding yourself with.

Because whether we realize it or not, we're always building momentum in some direction.

Every time we reinforce an old pattern, we're practicing it.

And every time we consciously choose something different, we're giving ourselves another opportunity to strengthen a new one.

Maybe that looks like five minutes of intentional breathing before you start your day.

Maybe it's a yoga class, a regular meditation practice, or returning to a drum circle because you remember how you felt when you were surrounded by that collective energy.

Maybe it's choosing to spend more time with people who help you remember who you're becoming rather than constantly reminding you of who you've been.

And yes, sometimes it's another workshop, another certification, or another experience that opens an entirely new door.

It's not breakthrough OR consistency. It's breakthrough AND consistency.

One creates possibility. The other helps us build a relationship with that possibility.

A Little Something to Help You Build Momentum

I didn't want to write an entire article about consistency and then send you on your way without giving you something you could actually use.

So I have a little gift for you.

It's a free guided breath practice I like to call ISHO.

It's something you can return to between your visits to SHINE, when you need a moment to reconnect with yourself, shift your attention, and become more intentional about the state you're practicing.

You don't need special equipment.

You don't need to set aside an entire afternoon.

And you definitely don't need to travel across the country to begin.

Just give yourself a few minutes.

Because the little things we practice repeatedly can become part of something much bigger.

So, Can One Experience Really Change Everything?

Yes.

I believe it can.

Sometimes we need to step away from everything familiar. Sometimes one extraordinary experience opens a door we never knew existed. And sometimes it's the small, consistent choices that create the biggest shifts.

A reset. A breakthrough. Momentum.

They don't have to happen in that order. And one can lead to another.

After seven days of exploring what's possible, I'm coming home with a renewed curiosity about what happens when we keep showing up for the version of ourselves we're becoming.

And that's exactly what I want the Light House to inspire.

We don't create events. We create momentum.

And the Light House will never leave you where it found you.
